In honor of the Tour de France, I will christen each day's ride as a stage. So welcome to my Prologue, part 1. And this part of the prologue finds me packing. I'm not a big fan of packing, especially since I have to put together six days worth of cycling gear in one day. But I have learned from last year to use giant Hefty freezer bags to store each day's "kit" which consists of a jersey, shorts, socks, gloves and head covering. Then add a folding tire, extra spokes, Hammer Gel, sun screen, chamois lube, water bottles, medicine, cycle shoes and helmet and my cycle gear bag is freakin' heavy! But it's a good kind of heavy! :) And I still have to pack my "regular" clothes as well. Ah the simple joys of a multi-day ride. Less than 72 hours to "Stage 1" of Bicycle Illinois!
Car back!
